"I would NOT do business with Steve Fay's office due to the unethical and scammy behavior of one of their agents. I'm writing this on behalf of my father who was tricked into paying for add-ons. It was an intentional and predatory act of adding unwanted insurance coverage to people's accounts and taking advantage of elderly customers not finding out due to the paperless discount and not having easy access to their online accounts. Either Steve's office encourages bad practices, or this agent needs to dismissed. One of the Chinese-speaking agents in Steve Fay's office kept insisting that it would lower the auto premiums if we added renter's insurance. My father repeatedly told the agent that we just need auto insurance for our 2 cars, and that we own our home and are not renters. We declined the renter's insurance. The agent added the renter's policy to the account without us knowing or agreeing, and was very sly by only telling us the total for the auto portion when asked. We didn't realize at first because we opted for the paperless discounts and monthly autopay. My father didn't have access to the online account due to tech challenges and only realized the price discrepancy after calculating later on. The agent still kept being pushy and avoiding answering straight after being asked why the price was not what we expected. Now that we've found out that they've been charging us for 3 policies instead of just the 2 auto policies for our 2 cars, we switched to Progressive and will be saving almost 1/3 of the price. Steve's office even made cancelling difficult for us, making us jump through multiple hoops and asking for more documentation than necessary. They didn't even give us the renter's policy number to cancel, which is why I had to step in to help my father create his online account to get the number and then write a separate cancellation letter. Otherwise, they would've just kept charging us for renter's insurance despite KNOWING and BEING TOLD REPEATEDLY that we don't need it. I would not recommend having Steve Fay as your State Farm agent. I've also reported this to State Farm's corporate office. This is not the right way to do business. Extremely disappointing for how many good reviews they have."
